Bio

Theya LeRoy is a Lithuanian-born, Liverpool-based singer-songwriter, pianist, and music producer whose work blends atmospheric pop, electronic, house, and jazz influences with emotional depth and thoughtful storytelling.

Driven by a desire to create music that resonates on a human level, her songs explore vulnerability, identity, mental health, and human connection through honest lyrics and carefully crafted sound. Drawing inspiration from life experiences, meaningful relationships, the rugged coastlines of Cornwall, and the vast presence of the ocean, Theya creates music that feels both intimate and cinematic.

With a background spanning medieval, classical, jazz, pop, and contemporary music, her approach is both intuitive and intentional, resulting in a sound that is contemporary yet timeless, refined yet deeply personal.

As a fully independent artist, Theya writes, records, produces, and releases her own music. Her debut single, I Opened My Heart, received support from BBC Introducing South West, while her 2026 single Oblivion was selected to compete in Lithuania’s Eurovision national selection, introducing her music to a wider international audience.

Alongside her artist project, Theya creates music and sound design for contemporary art exhibitions and is developing work for film and visual media. Through her music, she aims to create honest and meaningful experiences that stay with listeners long after the song ends.

Artist's background

Born as Teja Peleckaitė in Kaunas, Lithuania, Theya’s musical journey began at the age of six when she joined a sacral music school. There, she studied piano, sang in a choir, performed in church settings, and developed skills in organ performance, conducting, and classical and medieval music.

In 2016, she continued her studies at the Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire, specialising in jazz and pop vocals while further developing her piano and conducting abilities. Following her graduation, Theya moved to the United Kingdom to study Popular Music at Falmouth University, where her focus shifted towards creating meaningful, concept-driven songwriting.

She later completed an MA in Record Production at the University of West London, deepening her understanding of sound design, music production, and artistic intention. These skills now play a central role in her work as both a songwriter and producer.

Alongside releasing original music, Theya has created original music and sound design for contemporary art exhibitions in Lithuania, collaborating with visual artists to create immersive artistic experiences that bridge sound and visual storytelling.

In 2026, her single Oblivion was selected to compete in Lithuania’s Eurovision national selection, marking an important milestone in her artistic career and introducing her work to a broader audience.

Beyond her music releases, Theya shares her creative process through her YouTube series Songwriting Diaries, offering an honest, behind-the-scenes look at songwriting, production, creativity, and artistic development.

A vocal supporter of feminism and the LGBTQ+ community, Theya believes music can be both a creative and cultural force. These values subtly inform her work, alongside her ongoing exploration of identity, emotional honesty, and human connection.
